DISASTER MANAGEMENT & REHABILITATION

An initiative to induce community resilience

Structural biases, gender inequalities, and socially ascribed roles and responsibilities restrict women’s mobility and influence their response to any kind of disaster or crisis, leaving them as the most adversely affected section of the society. Predominantly, women and girls have to face higher mortality, health risk, domestic and sexual violence, physical and mental abuse as ongoing and post-disaster effects.

Indian Dreams Foundation’s disaster management and rehabilitation program address three important areas including Health, Education, and Economic Empowerment during a time of crisis. Our program provides immediate assistance and support for rapid relief and recovery of the affected communities. As an important part of our program, we work to ensure that women and girls are healthy and protected. Our work also focuses on post-disaster relief initiatives and developing long-term engagement with affected communities. Focus areas of our disaster management and rehabilitation drive:

WE CONNECT PROGRAM

Women employment and financial assistance

This program focuses on reviving livelihood. Under this program we have founded a social enterprise named Her Pride. Our focus is to capitalize on local skills and craftsmanship to manufacture and sell handcrafted footwear and garments. This will provide financial independence to our women.
